July 5, 2022 - The Phoenix Suns today announced the team has re-signed free agent center Bismack Biyombo. Biyombo (6-8, 255 pounds) first signed with the Suns on Jan. 1 last season and played in 36 games, averaging 5.8 rebounds on 59.3% shooting plus 4.6 rebounds in 14.1 minutes.
Phoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton loved what he saw out of veteran teammate Bismack Biyombo during Game 5 (7 points & 6 rebounds).
Biyombo is performing well in the post-season.
NBA and Kaiser Permanente will Donate $10,000 to the Bismack Biyombo Foundation, Phoenix Suns to Match the Contribution
Several months after the unexpected death of his father, Francois, Bismack Biyombo joined the Phoenix Suns with two goals in mind: Use his salary to help build a hospital in his dad’s honor in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and win an NBA championship.
On March 11, 2022, Bismack announced he will be donating his entire 2021-2022 salary towards building a hospital in his homeland of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Months after his father’s death, the veteran center has revived his career and is contributing to a title contender in Phoenix.
Bismack Biyombo has responded well in his 3 games as a starter and showing his value for the long haul.
The Suns backup big man, who was signed for the rest of the season on Jan. 11 after a 10-day contract, told Arizona Sports’ Burns & Gambo on Friday that Phoenix was unlike any other squad he’s ever been on.
"One hundred percent,” Biyombo said before Sunday's game in Charlotte. “Just trying to figure out what I can add to what they already have. They know who I am. I know who I am. Just get to work. Let’s get to work.”
The veteran big finds himself helping a championship contender continue to play well without starting big, Deandre Ayton.
Biyombo posted 21 points (9-12 FG, 3-3 FT), 13 rebounds, five assists, two blocks and one steal across 30 minutes during Saturday's 113-103 victory over the Pacers.
